"My arm is dead"

As everyone must know, Alabama beat Texas 37-21 for the national title. Colt McCoy was hurt early in the biggest game of his life and did not return. It's hard to live with "what-ifs."

UPDATE: This article describe how Colt McCoy's arm felt "like a noodle" and he could not throw a football 7 yards to his dad.

NBCSports:  "McCoy said after the game that he really was feeling “no pain in my arm. I just can’t feel my arm. My arm is dead” from the early hit on his throwing shoulder."

A new study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association claims that calorie counts at fast-food restaurants and on frozen foods are significantly understated.
Amazon has now started to sell new AND used textbooks. College and university bookstores will need to lower some prices soon!

After a quick look, the books that I saw listed are not basic freshman or sophomore textbooks. Some of them might be suitable for upper-level courses, and I think those students are quite aware of Amazon anyway.
George Will's latest column is about college football and higher education, two completely separate topics. College football is big business.

Trailing four potential Republican challengers

Rasmussen: "A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in Arkansas shows [Blanche] Lincoln’s support for reelection at 38% or 39% no matter which of four potential Republican challengers she is matched against." Most Arkansans oppose health care reform. That's her problem, and the fix is obvious.

Jennifer Rubin has some comments here. She says that Lincoln and other Democrats listen too much to Reid and Pelosi, but the people who really matter are back home.

Don Suber reports the rumor that Lincoln will be the next Democrat to retire. I doubt it.
Everyone is anticipating the big game today, Alabama vs. Texas, for the national championship. All of the players, coaches, alums, and fans will be up for it, I'm sure. It will be great entertainment.

Jason Tolbert has a video with Blanche Lincoln's horse trader quote.
Michael Barone: Can Obama change his course? At the end of the column, Barone does not say. My answer is: No.
Blanche Lincoln is critical of Ben Nelson's Nebraska health care deal. She says she was not sent to Washington to be a horse trader.
AP Report: Two Democratic Senators and one governor have bailed out. They call themselves retiring. The Senators are Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota. The governor is Bill Ritter of Colorado.

UPDATE: Dodd's retirement will help the Democrats. Makes sense.

UPDATE2: Dodd's retirement is a Tea Party success story.
